This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you visit cooltechshit.ca, use the AutoCharge application at autocharge.cooltechshit.ca, or purchase our products. We operate in compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.

  • Payment information (processed securely by Stripe — we do not store card numbers)

Information Collected Automatically

  • Charging session data: start/end time, energy delivered (kWh), voltage, current, cost
  • Charger status and connectivity data (OCPP heartbeats, error logs)
  • IP address, browser type, and pages visited on our website
  • Approximate location (city/province level) for grid intensity and rate calculations

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To process and fulfill product orders
  • To operate and improve the AutoCharge app and services
  • To provide customer support and warranty service
  • To send transactional communications (order confirmations, shipping updates)
  • To send marketing communications, with your consent, which you may opt out of at any time
  • To comply with legal obligations
  • To calculate and attribute carbon credits (CarbonRewards feature)
  • To enable MURB/commercial billing and reporting features

3. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Stripe Inc. — payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data.
  • Service providers — hosting, email delivery, and analytics providers who are contractually bound to protect your data.
  • Property managers / building operators — in MURB installations, session energy and cost data may be shared with the building operator for billing and reporting purposes, as disclosed at sign-up.
  • Legal requirements — where required by law, court order, or government authority.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Charging session data is retained for a minimum of three years to support warranty claims and carbon credit reporting. You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time (see Section 7).

5. Cookies and Tracking

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to improve your experience, remember preferences, and analyze traffic. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, which may affect some functionality. We do not use third-party advertising tracking cookies.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your personal information, including TLS encryption for data in transit and encrypted storage for sensitive credentials. No system is 100% secure; please contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

7. Your Rights

Under PIPEDA and applicable provincial law, you have the right to:

  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Withdraw consent to certain uses of your information
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
